Overview ~ Print Data ~ Support Settings ~ Print Process
Printing the Blacksmith Walls was a slightly more difficult process with a small amount of issue with the interior wall used for the Blacksmith Furnace. To print the walls I did use tree supports and printed orientation with the wall base along the print bed. While most of the printing could be done without supports I opted to use them for pieces with hooks (seen on front wall) and to provide a better finish for windows & door top overhangs. See below for my support settings and what prints look like with supports and without.
Also special note of modification to these pieces is that BW Wall B had first layer issues and was lowered 0.02mm in order to have a solidified first layer for printing adhesion.
For ALL FDM print profile settings used in this print build. Here is the Google Doc which lists them all.
Printer: Prusa mk3s
Filament: ESun PLA+ Grey
Layer Height: 0.1 mm
Time to Print all components: 1d 20hr 8 min
Filament to Print: 210.51 g
Estimated Cost to Print: $4.84
To print the walls I used tree supports they were easy to remove and almost came off completely with the exception of BW Wall F which had an open window. The tree supports required me to cut away the supports which came back together in the open window.
There was one wall piece that was printed without a support and you can see before cleanup what the pieces look like without supports.
Required Print Processes
The most notable difficulty is that ALL pieces of this set require rotation of opened STL file to be flat on the print bed when loading into your slicer. The largest thing to look out for is to make sure that the bottom of each base piece is flush against the build plate. This ensures a good solid layer of adhesion for your print and best success while printing. When looking for the side to put against the build plate look for the side that has no details. In the case of BW Wall B I did lower the wall slightly into the build plate to ensure a solid 1st layer for printing as well.
Image below shows rotation of piece from Fishers Hut print logs but concept is same for Blacksmith as well.
