Project Main: Lost Adventures Vol 2

Overview

You may ask yourself what is an Ettercap? Or at least that was me two weeks ago. It wasn’t until an encounter I had playing Dungeons and Dragons with my friends as we worked through the story of “Dungeon of the Mad Mage” that we encountered two Ettercaps. When rolling initiative my husband turns to me and asks “What the heck is an Ettercap?” “What does it look like?” “What do they do?” I did not know either which made this print fun.

It was absolutely perfect timing when I open my folder of things to print last week and see an entire collection of Ettercaps to print. It was a blast of bringing my imagination to life, literally. These models from the Lost Adventures Co are also full of character with unique poses and includes terrain bits or action webbing. If you didn’t know these were humanoid spiderlike monsters who could shoot webs just seeing these miniatures you would learn. That is one thing that is not common in miniatures and makes me want to learn more about the sculptor.

These models were not difficult to print and were done in two batches. Since the matriarch was so big I also printed with a larger model from the Heartwood Wardens. The regular Ettercaps were printed with two Heartwood Sages.

Print Issues/ Areas of Improvement

There is definitely some areas where I could improve my post process cleanup. You can definitely tell when I’ve used my toothbrush a few times along with the alcohol starting to have resin.

Model Options

One great thing about these models is that 3 of 5 of the Ettercaps have two choices to choose from. Even though i’m set out to print 100% of the models I will not print the same model twice (unless accidental or issues printing) even if there is more than one variant.

Below are the three models and their two choices.
