Minotaur Miniature Print Data
Minotaurs, are a monster type that I have very little experience playing against but the overall art style seems consistent with the more classic monster look. These are not some of my favorite of the Fat Dragon Collection of models but overall came out well. I am exited to paint these models because I think they would be perfect examples to practice painting muscle groups as their arms and back is a great place to practice.
Update: January 6, 2021. This file has been updated by Fat Dragon Games where axes are easier to print. Print below represents first version
As for my feedback on the models… Overall the models came out well but my largest frustration is imagining how to paint each model. The issues I see is that the loincloth is going to be incredibly difficult to paint due to the small gap for the front and back and getting a brush into the area between the legs. This is definitely a downside of printing “supportless” models as the cloth is going all the way to the base and is used for built in structural support. The gap to paint the front and back of each cloth piece is definitely going to be frustrating but time will tell. Also based on how the weapons were removed from supports caused holes on the tips that required some green stuff to clean up or glue. There is also a nit picky issue I have with these models because the base is a nonstandard size of between 25mm and 50mm in size. Normally this is not an issue for most but due to how I store miniatures the basing is problematic.

File Name | Print Time | Estimated Material Used | Misc Notes |
---|---|---|---|
Minotaur_Warrior | 4 hr 4 min | 10g | Used greenstuff at bottom of spear to attach and hold spear. Gluing weapons on I cannot see seams anymore of where they were located. Retraction on spear, weapon and horns. |
Minotaur Warrior weapons | 1 hr 7 min | 2g | Tip of spear is really melty and should be improved. |
Minotaur__A | 4 hr 3 min | 10g | Hand and weapon added well. Some retraction issues seen on back of hand and horns. Bottom of axe has some holes based on how support was removed. |
Minotaur A weapon and Hand | 49 min | 2g | *see above notes |
Minotaur__B | 3 hr 26 min | 9g | Horn chipped but seems to work. The top of the spear had some visual holes so I used greenstuff to try to smooth it out. |
Minotaur_ C Dead | 4 hr 35 min | 13g | Came out well. Of course more layer lines visible. |
