This category i’m really excited to share. I have yet to have real snake warriors or in Wizards of the Coast lore Yuan-Ti. When it comes to lore of snake like or reptilian creatures in D&D and other such games. I see and experience them rarely. I think this would be a great time to research them more before I print them.
I really love that there are 3 weapon varieties the bow, sword & shield and standard spear. On the spear and sword minis I really love the emblem on their chests which really tie these models together. The print quality of their scales on their backs is crisp and incredible. My only real complaint is that the bases for these models are non standard large minis with bases larger than 25mm but smaller than 50mm.

Of all the things in D&D gameplay that could terrify me the most, it would be a large tentacle coming out of no where, grabbing my character and pulling me into the abyss. Today’s featured print project you guessed it, is tentacles. These models are incredibly sculpted so much so you can even see the printed wrinkles on the skin of the tentacle themselves. These are some of the cleanest print sets of the entire Fat Dragon Game collection. There is of course some room for improvement, like always regarding retraction. I’m going to nail it soon! The only downside is that these models are HUGE! These models in particular are inspiring me to write up something regarding scale creep and playable scale. These organic looking bases for these tentacles are greater than 25mm and will take up a classification of a large monster. I decided to attempt to shrink one of the tentacles to what I think is more accurate to playable scale and you can definitely tell what a difference it made. While they look incredible i’m curious as to how i’m going to use them on the table. At least they are the perfect pieces to practice fun painting for aquatic creatures!

These humanoid creatures have been written time and time again throughout history. Either from mythology, your fantasy book series or tabletop game. With such a wide variety of depictions and story telling it is easy to find a style you like. These Ogres give me many feelings towards towards an order D&D artistic style or of World of Warcraft . With big front tusks, bald heads and pointed ears these are for sure going to be unique on your table.

These proud and misunderstood humanoids are the next featured print project. Overall it was a learning experience on coming back to printing after my long break with baby. After these prints I ended up deep diving into printer maintenance and calibration through the end of July and early August. Nevertheless I came out with good minis.

These orcs were printed as a group print with the Skeletons 3 group. Overall I realized how rusty my printer was. There were obvious 1st layer issues making brim removal hard, retraction issues, and the separate weapons needed to be added to these miniatures were sloppy so I reprinted them. This was definitely a wake up call that I needed to undo the cobwebs and work on my retraction settings and calibration methods.
Overall the weapons were incredibly difficult to print and took several attempts. Thank goodness that they were 0.5 to 1g of filament a piece and were quick and easily affordable. I had the most success when printing the weapons in groups and printed slowly with larger minimal layer times around 15s.

I have been struggling to figure out how to type this update for sometime. In short I am living up to my name and life has been CRAZY. The last two months have been absolutely nuts.
Real life wise I ended up going to a very very small last minute backyard wedding, got a new job at a video game studio which is working towards launching world wide, very soon more news to come. Along with that I’ve seen a few members of my family and took a very small vacation.
Hobby wise my printer has given me more problems that I’ve ever had in the last several years of printing. My printer has had issues with stripping of the screw for locking the gear drivers that pull my filament. I attempted to replace which completely caused extrusion errors across the board. I have had some small nozzle issues, and on top of it all my power supply on my Prusa mk3s died completely and needed replacing. It has taking a while to get back into production due to the little amount of time here and there to tinker. But I think i’m now completely back in business! I have learned a lot more about 3d printing as a whole having rebuilt my printer at least twice over the last 2 months but i’m better for it. At least that is what i’m telling myself.
Project Status:
Overall like always i’m never short in projects i’m working on.
Fat Dragon Games miniature project: Since starting this site I started on 100% printing the Fat Dragon Games miniature kickstarter from 2019. I have now completely finished the project! All 94 unique miniatures and a few extras accidentally printed. There are a few ups and downs and I am still due to finish write ups for each set and a global breakdown. I am determined to get things to publish.
New Kickstarters Since I finished the last major project I’ve started working towards completing not one but TWO 3d printable kickstarters.
The Fantasy Props kickstarter was voted upon by several of my friends as the next project I work to tackle. It has a ton of dungeon dressing and scatter terrain pieces. Overall I have a mixture of love and frustration with the pieces and am starting to think that some of these pieces would be perfect for experimenting with flexible or more durable resins for SLA 3d printing. At the moment I am going to hold off printing the rest of this kickstarter until my SLA printer shows up.
Monstrous Encounters. I cannot miss mentioning monstrous encounters by DungeonWorks. As some people know me personally DungeonWorks is by far my favorite company and dungeon tile system to use. As a 3d printing company DungeonsWorks has been around longer than many. They released this kickstarter in 2019 right after the Fat Dragon Games one as another set of miniatures that do not require FDM printing with supports. I figured to keep with the FDG theme and knock out these undead bad boys as they are designed for FDM printing in mind. I am absolutely falling in love with the monstrous encounters print and sculpt style.
Overall I’ve having a ton of fun printing the two projects and will continue to chug along. I have honestly been enjoying the monstrous encounters immensely as they are some of my most favorite 3d prints to ever assemble. The fantasy props I’ve encountered a few model issues and 3d printing issues as these are significantly smaller pieces than standard terrain and require significantly more finesse.
New 3d Printer!
I recently pulled the trigger and purchased my first 3d printer. I have ordered the Phrozen Sonic 4k Mini. I’m so beyond excited for this new avenue of adventure i’m on and should be receiving it at the end of the month/early October.
3d Printing Enclosure.
Since i’m soon going to have a resin 3d printer I figured it was about time that I started to build a more permanent enclosure for my 3d printers that also include proper ventilation to push air outside the house. The process has begun and is going to be a mega build. SO far the base is assembled and shelves to hold filament are completed. The enclosure top needs a finished design, ordered, and assembled.
Here is a picture of the bottom cabinet in progress.
Craz’s Musings
Last but not least the website. I am really determined to try to make something special as a way to collect information and grow with a catalog of history and experiences regarding 3d printing. I do not necessarily know if this is just going to be the ramblings of another random person on the internet or I find a niche in the tabletop community to really help it grow. I have yet to pull the trigger on purchasing a plan for wordpress and have told myself that I will not do so until i’m no longer “embarassed” with the lack of content on the page. This could just be imposter syndrome. But I think full write ups are important especially for getting started and commonly asked questions.
I am determined to catch up in my posts to be more reflective of my current projects and will definitely spam will content shortly. As for the deep informational pages, well those will have to adapt slowly over time as they require significantly more work and thought. I really want to do this well.
I think that is everything but if not i’ll fill you in more in the future. Thank you for reading. Don’t hesitate to reach out with questions, comments or concerns.
Who here doesn’t love imaging a player floating and being eaten by a Gelatinous cube? I definitely have. I love them but I’ve never had one in my collection before. That changes now!

I do not think in the years of playing tabletop games i’ve had to encounter or made my players encounter a giant slug…. This may have to change. This model is gorgeous in its simplicity. What is a Goblinoid anyway? I thought goblinoid is in referring to the humanoid collection of goblins. So i guess these Goblinoids could be Goblins, Hobgoblins or bugbears? I’m probably going to paint these fellas like hobgoblins because I don’t have many to in that collection. As the big cousins of goblins these little dudes are more militant and will be perfect. I really love the capes on the back of these guys and they might start being my practice for layering on capes. I’m honestly really looking forward to painting them.

This week of miniature painting! Yay I actually got to paint a miniature this week. I was capable working on my miniature pile of shame. This mini painted today was Black Omen’s sculpted bandit from his patreon in 2018 and early 2019. I painted just a tiny portion of this mini over a year ago and it has been sitting in my box for this entire time.
Render of Bandit Models made by BlackOmenCo
I did not keep track of the paint that I used and just wanted to practice. This was also my first paint job after I transferred all my paint into dropper bottles and it was a learning process as each brand of paint had different viscosity. I struggled the most with my bold choice of bright top layer for the vest which is a bright teal/blue. It definitely got away from me and i wish I could have made it a bit better.
Here are some progress shots of me painting!
Overall i’m happy to have another mini under my belt. In a discord i’m in I did mention “practice vs technique”. This is above and beyond practice. I tried to do more layers on objects and am currently pondering the methods of how to effectively use washes and layers at the same time. I need to go find some videos to watch or papers to read. If you see any feel free to pass them forward. I also realized that i’m terrible at painting eyes and this guys eyes are really creepy. At least I tried.
I just need to keep practicing. I have also decided to set a painting challenge for the month of August! Stay tuned.
Below are some photos of the finished mini.
About the Sculptor Black Omen Co This is one of my personal favorite sculptors and one of the first I ever supported on patreon. Black fostered an incredible community through discord and would commonly lead community sculpt alongs on Twitch leading to great participation and assitance.
These bandits are actually ones I specifically requested as there were not many at the time out there.
He is no longer running a patreon but you could follow him on Instagram and see what he is currently working on!
Yet another one of the Fat Dragon Games miniature collections! I’m slowly making my way through this kickstarter and getting posts done. This collection is spiders. Having already had a previous spider version in their miniature collection the rearing option for the spider is new. Overall the model is decent but I am not the happiest with how the legs go into the sockets for the large rearing spider. It took some shaving with my exacto knife to make it fit more cleanly. Also the second spider swarm (more spiders on the base). Felt sloppy to me. Almost all of my prints have come up cleanly but this almost looks like a failed print to me. I am interested to see how these guys will turn out when I paint them.
